The World Championships in Hyeres France will start tomorrow and for the past few days the fleet there has been enjoying 10-15 m/s of wind. We up here in Espoo (neighboring town to Helsinki) had the pleasure again today sail in light wind. This days "big picture" was sunshine, temperatures above 20 degrees, 1 - 4 m/s of wind coming in from E to SE. During the afternoon the thunder front mixed up the wind entirely making the sailing extremely difficult.
This year the regatta has 5 other classes besides us. The biggest fleet is Albin Express with 24 boats then 8 X-99s, 7 M24s, 5 X-79s and FE83s + 4 Beneteau 25s. So altogether 53 boats at the race area.
In these tricky conditions we got 3 races,
race 1 - Land Rover FIN-529 winning in front of Pohjola-Fonecta Finder FIN-573. Team Uusikaupunki FIN-316 got a OCS. Mazda FIN-214 still on road from Turku with a broken trailer...
race 2 - Land Rover winning again but behind Team Uusikaupunki taking 2nd place and the Estonian new team EST 476 snatching their second third place today.
race 3 - Couple of race leader but the dropping wind made sailing interesting and mixing the pack at the last leeward mark. At the end Mazda FIN-214 winning, Land Rover second and Pohjola-Fonecta Finder climbing from behind to third.
