After a very nice evening hosted by Pärnu Yacht Club at Hotel Strand night club right on beach with excellent view to the Pärnu bay the second day here in Pärnu was a opposite to yesterday. Rain, temperature appr. 16 to 18 degrees. The days racing started at 11.00 am just outside the harbour of Pärnu. The first race was raced in easterly winds with a velocity of 4 to 6 m/s. First race winner Sitting Duck / SWE 508 (Claes Röjning). For the second race the wind shifted to SE but with the same velocity as in the first. In the middle of the second beat upwind the wind suddenly died and shifted to S-SW and picked up to app. 8 m/s. The rest of the race was just a speedway race around the buoys. Race winner after these interesting happenings was Lenny / EST 645 (Tönu Töniste). The third race started in a SW wind with a velocity of appr. 6 m/s. The fleet beating upwind the wind picked up making the first rounding between really tight. The downwind leg was already a show of the true speed of the Melges 24. But then towards the end of the second beat up the wind picked up even more. Blasting downwind in appr. 10 to 12 m/s wind a couple of nice wipe outs were seen and also placings changing. Race winner in the last start was Tönu Töniste & co. and they won overall their second Estonian Championship title with a comfortable 8 point margin over Claes Röjning helming SWE 508.
