Ranking 7 to a conclusion

21.9.2008

The seventh Finnish ranking came to a conclusion today here Tallinn in variable winds. Yesterday two starts in light wind and today three races in 10 to 15 knots of wind coming in from NE(from the land). The wind direction didn´t grow the waves making the sailing interesting.

First day leader Tõniste & co had problems today in keeping up with the excellent pace of Midnight Sun Sailing One helmed by Sami Ekblad taking the first two race wins. They lead the two races from the first beat extending their lead towards the end. Especially the downwind tactics and speed in the difficult conditions was their speciality. In the third race the wind came down to appr. 8 knots. Zuxu, EST645 helmed by Peter Saraskin took the early command of the race. Ekblad and Tõniste following close by. Saraskin kept up their pace and crossed the finishing line just ahead of Ekblad having a good fight towards the end of the race. Tõniste secured their regatta win by taking a third.

Behind the podium places 4 boats were within 5 points.
